Occupy Wall Street News Update of the Day:
What You Need To Know:
— In a recent interview with ABC News senior White House correspondent Jake Tapper, President Obama said the Occupy Wall Street protests are “not that different” from Tea Party protests in that both the left and the right “feel separated from their government.”
— NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg told reporters yesterday that the tent city set up by OWS protesters in Zuccotti Park isn’t protected by the Constitution. Relatedly, three plazas in Midtown — one owned by the same company that owns Zuccotti Park — have posted signs forbidding camping and/or tents. A similar sign is posted near Zuccotti Park, but has yet to be enforced.
— In Orange County, Courage Campaign founder Rick Jacobs and other members of Occupy Irvine disrupted House Speaker John Boehner’s golf game at the Pelican Hill Golf Club with drumming, chanting, and even a plane banner demanding a GOP jobs plan. “I hope that even while he’s up there, raking in millions in cash, he knows there’s people here and everywhere,” Jacobs said. “We’re going to make clear that this isn’t a funny time anymore. This is a real time. It’s time for him to get busy on jobs and not on his golf game.”
