OMG TCM = PLAYING THE GOOD STUFF

So let’s face it Turner Classic Movies has been made rad. First Tokyo Drifter happens and we say, “Nice TCM, real nice”. Then, the very next night Scorsese has one of his docs on about Val Lewton. Like the biblical character Joseph, ahead of his time producing subtle, effective and intricate horror films as early as 1942. With little, tiny, baby budgets he used the power of suggestion to frighten instead of the cheesy special effects of the day (which on a budget of his scale would have been disasterous).

So after we watch Marty’s doc were sayin’,”I wish we could watch one of these films.” Then Val’s film The Leopard Man is playing next. Damn. That’s good programming and the film was rich.

TCM has guest programmers too. This month JOHN SAYLES. He’ll be showing Park Row, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre , Two Women, Paisan.

This is channel 127 on Time Warner Cable and is so good you might not have to change it for a while.
