LA Food Trucks Tour
I’m currently scheming an LA food trucks tour this weekend. My gameplan is to visit the food trucks with some food savvy/chef friends, record our experience and review the food, post it online, and submit it to the the various food-centric blogs (Eater LA, grub street, etc.).
I made a list of the food trucks to visit that are representative of the diversity of the ever-expanding and almost over-saturated LA Food Truck industry:
The Gastrobus - Gastropub meets tacotruck, the ultimate portmanteau of portmaneaus
Kogi BBQ - One of the first corporate taco truck ventures. I’ve eaten there once and enjoyed it, but was uncomfortable by the amount of “I-Wish-I-Lived-In-Williamsburg-Or-Park-Slope” LA hipsters around me.
Buttermilk Truck - A new addition to the lineup that includes pancakes, waffles and fried chicken (hopefully it’s a rolling Roscoe’s), donuts, etc.
Grilled Cheese Truck - Pretty simple stuff. The classic grilled cheese, or a few other variants like the caprese melt, Harvest melt: Roasted Butternut Squash with sauteed leeks, balsamic and agave syups, and sweet sweet jesus (as i call it) melt with marshmallows, bananas, and nutella.
Sweets Truck - yet to be open, but we can assume it’s like the Sprinkles truck, but with more non-cupcake options.
Flying Pig Truck - A barbie-esque pink truck housing pork/beef/chicken based burgers and tacos and the “Crab Ball” with lime, cilantro, and chimichurri.
Green Truck - An organic taco truck? Fine, I’ll bite. it’s got a lot to offer from a vegan breakfast burrito to Citrus-marinated tilapia skewers with red onion and baby eggplant.
I also wrote them all an email asking their locations throughout the weekends and letting them know my plans (in case they decide to give me free tacos/cupcakes/ribs/grilled cheese).
Thankfully my trekking will be made easier by FIND LA FOOD TRUCKS website that tracks all the twittering trucks in one place.
If you’d like to come with me you can tweet to me @twunder!
Wish me luck and i’ll post the video as soon as it’s done.

Don’t bullshit me Terry, this whole idea wreaks of LA hipster, even if you’re not wearing skinny jeans and 25 year old italian shoes….
but, still sounds delicious.
