HAMMER TIME

Shit. So last night me and the Team G Babies et all went on over to the Flux Screening Series at The Hammer Museum in Westwood. The Flux Screening Series is fucking cool but it was made better by the presence, performance and music videos of one Kevin Phillips. Kevin, is my fucking LIFE BLOOD, and inspires us all so we had to go there and do the damn thing (naturally).
So at this “event” you get passes which determine what order you are going to go into the screening room. Eagle proclaimed, “It’s like getting on a flight on Southwest”. And so it was. We got D passes (FAIL), oh well, we were going to do whatever we needed to do to make this thing happen.
After a couple beers they called us in and surprise, nowhere to sit. Well enough. We plopped down on the stairs next to Josh Lind and said, “Fuck ‘em”. They told us to get off the stairs and I said, “Gladly, when you tell me where I can sit ‘cause I’m not leaving.” They were taking us for chumps, which we ain’t. Then after some thought we filed into a “cubby hole” that was a little stair near the end of the row near the wall of the theater which was much less obvious. Then the same ol’ girl came over and told us to evacuate the hole. We said, “Not gonna happen bud.” She said, “I’m going to get my boss.” We said, “Please do”. But her boss was onstage introducing videos and directors and then security came over and tried shining a light in our eyes. We stonewalled them until the manager woman (Claudia) climbed into our hole area and told The Eagle that if we got up they’d give us seats in the back of the theater. She gave her word so we obliged her.
Having not heard what she said when she took us into a back room I was pretty sure they were going to arrest us or something. So I said, “Wait, she’s lying!!” Then she turned around and told me I didn’t even know what was going on. Which was true. So they took us up to a very nice spot in the theater and brought two chairs into the handicap section which some people though were from Michel Gondry and there we watched Kevin’s work with love in our hearts. Jett texted me and said, “You guys ok?” I said, “Incarcerated.”
Now I’d like to give a shout out to Claudia Bestor at The Hammer/cool boss/cool woman who lived up to her word and helped us enjoy the moment that was last night. Bless you!
