DEAR GOD SUMMER HAS ARRIVED
Truth be told, it has been a warm one here in LA. A couple weeks ago I talked to the babies in BKLYN and they said, “Oh damn, we are so hot here…dying.” I’z was like, “Too bad, LA has been nice enough.” And then the heat occurred. Tuesday the air conditioning was out in the place and it was hot as can be and sleeping was an abomination but I did it. Thankfully, by HIS grace, it was fixed by Thursday. There is a puppy house guest via my roommate Tori’s mom. She is a small french bulldog and really has a good time. This weekend went on, it was good but Sunday. Oh Sunday came. And it rocked us.
Got a call from the east coast around 9:30AM so I took it because I didn’t want to trade coast to coast all day and because it was the Kitten and it was necessary. Talks of a Beach Day had been in our mouths the night before so I inquired around 11AM as to whether that would be taking place and found out that yes it would and the cool kids club was on it’s way. I jumped up hurriedly and got dressed.
Next stop: VIVA FRESH for the burritos that would be consumed on the beach.
Next stop: REALLLLLLLLLY EPIC parking spot that we actually did not get. It was frankly on the beach but alas, it was not meant to be.
Next stop: The beach. The glorious beach. There was a little gloom in the air but it burned off within the hour and I had a lot of sun tan lotion application to get to. I’m fare as can be. I look like a turkey actually and I have to get a lot on to remain looking nice and white.
Next stop: The water. Hell YES. We were told it would be warm. It was not that warm with the gloom but after it lifted things got extremely awesome. So awesome it was kind of out of control. Almost euphoric. Threw the frizbee around. Had one good catch and no good throws but it didn’t matter. Really it was so luxurious it’s hard to tell it all. Some little ones rode the beach cruisers from Manhattan Beach and we’re feeling like a 10 mile bike ride where the iPod ran out of juice warranted a good swim and a meal. So they did that. When they got back they were drunk.
Next stop: Drink Time. Some rode bikes to Islands. Others drove but thankfully, we all ended up there. The little babies with the bikes had to be back in Manhattan Beach by 7PM to return them. It was 5:30PM and this was no good. They took the beer down and went. We rested like sunswept lambs and talking about surfing and ate sliders and other such things. Really really rich.
Next stop: We exited Islands and made our way home. The Degrootious said he’d like a ride somewhere. We took him in the car but ended up dropping him off to walk to the rest of the way (as it wasn’t too far). He exited the vehicle and then this happened…
One More Time, the great Daft Punk hit was playing and Degrootious was outside the car. We prompted him by rolling up slowly to him in the car and rolling down the windows to do a little dance that really just involves a flick of the wrist (out and then in). The irony is that we didn’t just do this once.
When we would move up in he would approach the car on foot and we would suggest again, that he perform. He was no let down. Last time we were way far ahead of him but the song with in a lull so in our thoughts were that by the time Degrootious arrived on foot it would be pumped up again and “the magic” would occur. This did happen. We had never been so excited for an entry from the good sir. This will go down in history. We all agreed that he would be the MVP of the day.
So for the first time this summer, there’s been that whimsical outing. One in which there could be fun, sun, friends and Daft Punk. Riches all around.
